Band

Formed in December 2019, Skorum (meaning “I Invoke” in Old Norse) takes inspiration from the myths and fables of Northern Europe.

During the Corona Virus Pandemic of 2020, Skorum wrote and recorded their debut album “Freyja’s Song”. Inspired by the likes of Wardruna and Runahild, “Freyja’s Song” is both an invocation and devotional to the Vanir Goddess, Freyja, and focuses on the legends as told in the Poetic and Prose Edda.

During 2021, Skorum wrote and recorded “The Reddening”, a retelling of the from the Norse Saga’s of the second war for reality between the Aesir and Vanir gods.

Skorum are Martin Adil-Smith, Anne “Skorum” West, and Jo-Jo Aezara.

Jo-Jo is a secondary English teacher in the Highlands of Scotland and has a passion for art and theatre. Jo-Jo often directs and performs in local plays and musicals and also has a sideline as a children’s entertainer at parties and events. Other than that, Jo-Jo’s hobbies include wild swimming in the stunning Highlands, and taking her two children on wilderness walks and adventures.

Anne was born in Scotland and now lives in Los Angeles. A life-long percussionist, she is most at home with shamanic and tribal rhythms played across her many many bodhrans.
